Eating 5-6 times a day to Lose Weight

A few months ago I decided to try out something I had only heard about through magazines. I decided to break up what I was eating during one day into 5 or 6 meals throughout the day. To my surprise it definitely worked.

They say eating every 2 to 3 hours and breaking up your meals into 5 or 6 instead of 3 meals raises the body's thermic effect burning approximately 10% more calories per day. I also experienced that it seemed to have shrunk my stomach. I was eating what I wanted but in smaller amounts and I wasn't hungry throughout the day.

I would eat my breakfast sandwich when I got to work at 8:30 am. Then around 10:30 I would make a protein shake, I normally drink chocolate caramel, vanilla, or strawberry from GNC (normally they have great deals and discounts throughout the month). At lunch time I would eat half of my lunch. Around 2:30 pm. or 3 pm I would eat the other half of my lunch. I would then go to the gym after work, when I got home I would eat a protein rich meal to nourish my muscles.

Eating these smaller meals throughout the day stabilizes nutrient oxidization levels, making the body more efficient at burning food and is also believed to lower blood cholesterol.

Askmen.com reported the following:

The proof is in the pudding, so to speak, and the benefits are too good to ignore. A study conducted at St. Michael's Hospital in Ontario, Canada, observed two groups of individuals. One was subjected to a common three-meals-a-day diet while another was asked to consume over a dozen small ones throughout the day.

At the end of the study, the "nibblers" showed considerably lower levels of low-density-lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol (the bad kind of cholesterol that sticks to the arteries).

Another study conducted at the University of Limburg in the Netherlands revealed that individuals who consume mini-meals had more stable carbohydrate and fat oxidization levels, while "gorgers" didn't, making them more prone to weight gain.

In conclusion, I cannot find any downfalls to this eating principle. I can say it did work for me and that's why I think its important for people to know about it. If you try it out please come back and tell us what you experienced and if you would recommend it to others :)

Magneffect Nail Polish

One of the most recent things I have been in aw over is magnetic nail polish.  The other day at work one of my coworkers was telling me how she got her daughter magnetic nail polish for Christmas.  I didn't even know what to think.  She explained to me that it was nail polish with little metal shavings in it.  You paint it on, hold a magnet that is normally in the cap of the nail polish above the nail without touching it for about 5 seconds.  When the magnet is held over the nail it makes different designs (they offer lines and stars mostly).  Attached I put up pictures of the lilac color and the black color that I used on myself.

The two colors I have are from a company called Layla, the line is called Magneffect.  It comes in a bunch of colors.  You can find it on eBay for about $15.50 per bottle with free shipping, or the same price through zappos.com, and many other drug stores online.  Sephora also offers a magnetic nail polish line called Nails Inc. which is roughly $16.00 per bottle.

I do reccommend any magnetic nailpolish you do use, make sure you have a good basecoat, I am unsure how this polish reacts with the natural nail.

Be sure to check out the video below to get a comparison between the two brands I talked about in the post.  Hopefully it is helpful in making your magnetic nail polish decision :)

If you have any experience with magnetic nail polishes, or if you have questions please comment on this post.
